# About MyBreedPick

## Why MyBreedPick exists

MyBreedPick was founded by Kayla Mulkey after her own frustrating experience trying to choose a dog breed online. The information was either painfully generic, riddled with hype, or written by people who clearly hadn't researched a single primary source. There was no place that helped her actually *decide*.

So she built one.

MyBreedPick is built around a simple promise: every breed profile, every comparison, and every recommendation on this site is researched from primary sources, written with honesty about trade-offs, and oriented toward helping you make a confident decision — not toward selling you on the first breed you read about.

## What we do

MyBreedPick covers four main areas:

- **Breed profiles** — Honest, structured, and complete profiles of dog and cat breeds, sourced from breed parent clubs, the AKC, the FCI, and peer-reviewed research.

- **Decision guides** — "Best breed for…" articles that match real lifestyles (apartments, families, first-time owners, allergy sufferers, active adults) to breeds that actually fit.

- **Care content** — Practical, non-medical guidance on training, exercise, grooming, and daily life with specific breeds.

- **Gear guides** — Tested, breed-appropriate product recommendations based on size, coat, energy, and lifestyle needs.

## What we don't do

We don't provide veterinary or medical advice. We're a research and decision resource, not a clinical authority. For health decisions, always consult a licensed veterinarian who can examine your individual pet.

We also don't sell breeders or breeder placements. We have no relationships with kennels, breeders, pet stores, or breed-specific commercial entities. Our recommendations are based on research and honest assessment, not affiliate breeder fees.

## How we make money

MyBreedPick is supported by two revenue sources:

- **Display advertising** through Google AdSense and similar networks. These ads are served algorithmically and we don't control or endorse the specific products advertised.

- **Affiliate partnerships**, primarily Amazon Associates. When you click an affiliate link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. We only recommend products we've evaluated and would recommend to a friend.
